Tammi Conner, marketing director at Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas, received Life Care Centers of America’s Central Division Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on Wednesday, Aug. 29, for her dedication to customer service.
Executives from Life Care awarded Conner a cash prize during an awards ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was chosen from among thousands of associates in the Central Division and was one of only eight associates from Life Care’s more than 200 facilities nationwide to receive the award.
While she does her job well daily, Conner was particularly praised for specific acts of caring.
On one occasion, she stayed at the facility overnight with a new resident who was scared to be alone. On another, she opened her home to a former resident who had no family. She also arranged with her church to donate furniture for a patient’s apartment so the patient would have a furnished place to move into after completing rehabilitation.
When a local senior living apartment complex was evacuated due to a fire last November, Conner joined other associates in shuttling seniors to other housing.
Conner also set up for the American Legion Riders to salute a veteran when he was dying. He passed away shortly after the visit, and his family was grateful he had had the opportunity to be honored for his service one last time.
“When she isn’t putting out proverbial fires, you will find Tammi at Sonic getting cherry limeades for residents because they miss their favorite drink,” said Nicki Dozier, medical records director at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. “There are so many reasons we believe Tammi is a true example of what this award is about. Our residents and their happiness are her first priority.”
“All my life all I’ve ever wanted to do is just make other people happy,” said Conner.
Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program rewards associates for extraordinary acts of kindness. Monthly awards are presented in Life Care facilities nationwide based on nominations from fellow associates, family members, residents and guests. Each facility then chooses an annual winner, from which the divisional winners are selected.
“Dedicated caregivers routinely go far above and beyond their job descriptions, and Tammi Conner certainly demonstrates by her example their professionalism and compassion for the residents they serve,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “We are proud of Tammi and the thousands she represents in their selfless approach to the needs of others.”
