On Oct. 7, 2016, eight associates at Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas, prepared their favorite recipes for the facility’s chili cook-off!


Residents who serve on the dining committee judged the entries, which included traditional chili, two white chicken chilis and one steak chili. They were able to sample and choose their favorite.


“My favorite part of the cook-off was tasting the various types of chili,” said resident Edith Chambers.


Pamela Hennigh, receptionist, took first place for her classic chili. She often volunteers on the weekends and interacts with the residents.


“I created the chili according to what I knew the residents like,” Hennigh said. “I was very excited that they chose mine as the best.”


Hennigh won a large pot, chili bowls and fall kitchen accessories, but she donated the pot back to the activities department to use in the ladies’ cooking groups
